Anu Malik hindi Biography
Overview
Anu Malik is one of the most successful and versatile music directors of today. Despite being the son of veteran music director Sardar Malik, Anu Malik went through long and arduous struggle. Though commercial success was elusive in the early years, Anu's compositions were always appreciated, like the track 'Mohabbat rang laayegi aahista', from his debut film, Aapas Ki Baat still remains an all time favourite, and other song like 'Dil dil hai koi sheesha toh nahin',from the film Ek Jaan hain hum. This was followed by his popular compositions for films like Mard, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Soni Mahiwal, Ek chaadar maili si etc. However, his struggling phase was not yet over. The turning point of his career came with Kirti Kumar's Radha ka Sangam. Though the film was not a commercial success, it gave Anu the recognition he deserved as a music director. His next venture, which brought him critical acclaim and firmly established him as one of the best contemporary music directors, was Mahesh Bhatt's Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi, for which he composed memorable melodies such as 'Tere dar par sanam' and 'Badalon mein chup raha hai chand kyo'. Then came the spate of blockbusters like Baazigar, Sir, Imtihan, Akele hum Akele tum, Main Khiladi tu Anari, Vijaypath, Josh, Refugee, Fiza, Yaadein, Mujhe Kucch kehna hai, 1947 Earth and many more. Anu Malik has also done playback singing and has a couple of Indipop albums to his credit. A bagful of coveted assignments and an impressive repertoire of exceptional scores is what has made Anu Malik one of the most sought after music directors. In recent times, Anu Malik has been judging the television reality show 'Indian Idol' for the last three seasons and continues to be a member of the jury for the fourth season as well. In 2009, he also stepped in as a judge on Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, a variety entertainment reality show that airs on Sony Entertainment Television (India). Anu Malik was the only judge from India on Asian Idol, who represented Indian Idol winner Abhijeet Sawant, along with other judges Indra Lesmana, Paul Moss, Pilita Corrales, Ken Lim and Siu Black.
